Do you know someone who has a wish? Second Wind Dreams fulfills wishes

If your elderly parent or grandparent could make one special wish, what would it be? More than likely, it would be something simple, something that would make their day-to-day life a little brighter. Other things that seniors often wish for are to have an adventure they’ve always wanted, to relive a cherished memory, or to see distant family. Senior living Vancouver WA

Second Wind Dreams is a non-profit organization based in Marietta, Georgia that is giving seniors the opportunity to fulfill those dreams. The mission of Second Wind Dreams is to promote understanding and to change the perception of the elderly in our society.

Second Wind Dreams has been making dreams comes true since 1997. They’ve granted almost 2,000 wishes, and have over 6,000 volunteers helping make those dreams into reality. The benefits of this wish fulfillment are quantifiable. The research shows there is a positive effect on the rate of depression, not just for the dreamers, but also for other residents and employees in a senior care community. The goal of Second Wind Dreams is that it ripples out to affect the broader community. That it reminds society that the elderly as a group have a lot to offer, and they are worthy of our esteem and respect.

The special dreams that Second Wind Dreams helps to fulfill can be anything that is near and dear to the heart of a senior. One lady’s dream was to go to the casino for the day, another wanted to see the circus, another dreamed of growing flowers in her room, and another wished to go on a romantic date with her dear husband of many years.

Harmony Senior Homes supports the mission of Second Wind Dreams by daily helping to change the perception of aging and promoting honor and respect for our elders.
